¨ If you have a specific need for additional software or you want need to gain access to a website during the school day that is blocked, a teacher must complete an “Additional Technology Request” on your behalf and send it to the technology support team.  Allow 10 school days for processing the request. 

¨ Each of the USD 410 computers has Windows Movie Maker installed for students to produce videos.  Educational web-based video producing sites such as “Tel-A-Vision” may be used as well.

 

¨ School projects that include pictures of classmates should not be placed on public domain websites such as Youtube, MySpace or Facebook. 

 

 

 

¨ Computers may not be used to make sound recordings without the consent of all those who are being recorded.  Sound must be turned off at all times, except when being used as a part of a class.  Students may use their own headphones to listen to music, etc, if they have instructor permission.

¨ Installation of peer-to-peer file-sharing programs is strictly forbidden. (ex. LimeWire and Bit-Torrent) 

¨ USD 410 computers have I-tunes and Windows Media Player installed for student and classroom use. 

¨ Due to band-width limitations, Internet radio use during the school day will be blocked.

Students are reminded to respect copyright laws as they create projects with sound and video.  If you have any questions about what constitutes a copyright violation, please contact an administrator, media specialist, or language arts department person.

¨ The use of copyrighted images is prohibited.

¨ Students may download pictures using the SD-MS slot on their laptop with a camera or a USB cable. 

¨ Pictures of specific students should not be posted as part of a class project without their knowledge.

Saving Projects

Students should back up their projects to the network servers and to jump drives.  Using a jump drive to back up large projects which use pictures, video or sound is highly recommended because the network servers will be more limited than the student laptop.
